Lilian M. Tiglao (Maria Bella Mateo) is a parateacher of the Kapatiran Kaunlaran Foundations Inc. for the program Supervised Neighborhood Play (SNP). She is also a volunteer at the ATD Fourth World Philippines. She is currently residing and acting as caretaker in the Manila North Cemetery in the Philippines. Ate Lilian, as she is fondly called, devoted her life to community services to inspire people to strive hard and realize their dreams. Being a stage 2 leukemia survivor, it is her mission to inspire the community and bring hope in times of difficulties. Her life story and services to the community has been featured in various social media pages and television shows.
At her age, she never stops helping people living in the Manila North Cemetery. She is also volunteer teacher that educates the poor children living in the cemetery. She dedicates her Saturdays to the children in the Manila North Cemetery. She goes house to house inviting children and encouraging parents to support their kids in joining ATD’s literacy program. She also conducts community services such as feeding program.
Her story is unending power of love, hope and service. With her story, she can inspire the world to bring humanity back. Despite having nothing to share, she has her whole life dedicated to uplifting the life of her community. While people look down on people living in the cemetery, she is dignified to be a living example that service is a language of love. Despite her age, she endures all hardships to continue with her purpose – bringing humanity back!
