Inspirational Success Story:

Throughout the years, her experience in research writing and dissemination is evident in 45 research presentations (district, division, provincial, national, regional, and international) in scope, 18 completed research papers, and 7 on-going research studies. Some of which she won as best paper and best research presenter. Her continuous provision of free technical assistance has been evident in the roles she performed as a research coordinator, adviser, panel, capacity-building proponent/TWG, and resource speaker in her 14 years as educator. She was capacitated through master classes in research writing and earned international specialist certificates in editing, paneling, and publishing. More so, she was recognized as a multi-awarded international peer-reviewer and language critic by various journals and institutions in the Philippines and abroad. More so, her contributions had paved the way for the improvement and sustainability of research culture in DepEd Lucena City.
Her paper “Decoding Communicative Intent: Rhetoric Moves and Metadiscourse in DepEd Funded Paper.” had shed light in analyzing the rhetorical moves, metadiscoursal markers, and communicative intent of basic and action research articles under Basic Education Research Fund. She agrees that identifying these research components would provide guide to the writing styles conducted by DepEd researchers. As an output, the study produced research writing manual on the proper moves and steps in writing BERF research proposals and competed paper. As an output, she came up with a manual “Research Writing for Educators: Basic Education Research Format.” The recommendation and output of her study were disseminated in schools, conferences, and publication as guide on writing and editing research papers in DepEd community and the impact of her study made her win Gawad Patnugot Most Outstanding Researcher.
Dr. Oestar’s dedication to research and her willingness to share her expertise for free can inspire the organization and community in various ways. By providing free research consultancy (more than 60 speaking engagements, mostly on research and innovation in education), she empowers teachers and researchers in DepEd Lucena City to produce high-quality, data-driven research. This can lead to a culture of evidence-based decision-making, ultimately improving the quality of education in the schools. Moreover, her selfless approach encourages a collaborative spirit within the organization and community. Her willingness to share her knowledge and resources creates a supportive environment where individuals feel empowered to learn and grow. By witnessing her dedication to improving the quality of education, others may be motivated to pursue their own professional development and contribute to the betterment of the organization.
