Inspirational Success Story:

Prof. Madhura Jayasinghe is a distinguished academic and researcher specializing in Human Nutrition, Dietetics, and the development of plant-based nutraceuticals. Over the past decade, his work has focused on exploring applications of tropical plant ingredients in controlling type 2 diabetes and other chronic diseases. His research has generated new knowledge that has been widely disseminated through numerous indexed journals worldwide. Beyond scholarly articles, he has authored several books and book chapters on Food Science and Nutrition innovations—some of which are currently used by government school teachers in Sri Lanka’s technology stream as instructional resources.

In recognition of his outstanding professional and interpersonal qualities, the Development Academy of the Philippines honored him with the Most Congenial Professional Award in 2018. Two years later, his excellence in Food Science and Nutrition was acknowledged on a global stage when the International Foundation for Science (Sweden) shortlisted him as one of the Best Young Researchers in the World 2020. This distinction came with a substantial research grant, enabling him to pursue experimental studies in Food Processing Technologies and Applied Human Nutrition.

At the national level, Prof. Jayasinghe has also been celebrated for his achievements. In 2019, he received the Bronze Medal for Best Undergraduate Research Project in Life and Earth Sciences, awarded by the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science (SLAAS).

Despite numerous social and economic challenges faced over the last decade, Prof. Madhura Jayasinghe has made significant contributions to the advancement of science. His work continues to shape the fields of nutrition and food innovation, inspiring both students and professionals in Sri Lanka and beyond.
