He was appointed Research and Extension Faculty Coordinator of the Department of Financial Management, College of Accountancy and Finance, due to his recognized expertise in the field. In this role, he implemented significant improvements in the department’s research output by developing new learning materials, policies, and procedures.
He has been recognized as the Top Performing Faculty of the Financial Management Department for the past three years since joining the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP).
He holds the title of Associate Fellow in Business Education (AFBE) from the Philippine Academy of Professionals in Business Education (PAPBE).
He has received numerous awards from various award-giving bodies in recognition of his outstanding achievements as an educator, humanitarian, and researcher.
Before fully transitioning to an academic career, he accumulated over 22 years of professional experience in the financial services industry, particularly in life insurance and banking. This extensive industry background has enabled him to bring a holistic and practical perspective to his teaching.
He earned his Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree, Magna Cum Laude, from Colegio de San Juan de Letran, and most recently completed his Post-Doctorate Diploma in Quality Management (PD-QM) at Centro Escolar University.
He is an active and respected member of several professional organizations in education and research and frequently serves as a speaker in academic and corporate events.

Following the completion of his doctorate degree, Dr. Calderon embarked on a mission to cultivate a sustainable pool of highly competent graduates. Colleagues and students alike describe him as a passionate and charismatic educator, driven by a clear teaching vision and a sincere desire to ignite a love for learning. His commitment to his students extends beyond the classroom, as he fosters an inclusive, innovative, and empowering learning environment.
As Research and Extension Faculty Coordinator of the Department of Financial Management, Dr. Calderon played a pivotal role in leading curriculum development, revising learning modules, and enhancing the department’s research processes and outputs. He was instrumental in inspiring his fellow faculty members to pursue professional development through certifications such as Certified Research Specialist (CRS) and Certified Research Development Consultant (CRDC)—credentials he was the first to obtain within the College of Accountancy and Finance.
While handling teaching responsibilities across multiple universities, Dr. Calderon pursued further academic advancement, earning a Post-Doctorate in Quality Management from Centro Escolar University—another milestone as the first in his college to do so. He effectively applied these insights to improve academic processes in both finance and research disciplines. Additionally, he completed the Teaching Certification Program (TCP) to qualify for the Licensed Professional Teacher (LPT) examination.
Beyond academia, Dr. Calderon broadens the reach of his educational mission by authoring textbooks and journal articles. He also manages the Department of Financial Management’s official social media pages and serves as the Managing Editor of Finance APEX, the department’s official publication. Committed to community service, he volunteers as an educator for various social initiatives, including livelihood programs for single mothers, orphanages, and financial literacy workshops.
Dr. Calderon’s achievements have garnered him numerous invitations for part-time industry lectureships, speaking engagements, research adviserships, and peer-review roles across various universities, colleges, and academic organizations.
