Dr. Arlene is the overall team leader of the TEAM ABTIK- ethyl alcohol production of the School of Arts & Sciences (SAS) at Aklan State University during the height of pandemic in 2020. Her nomination comes in place of Engineer Tomas O. Ortega, the Ethyl Alcohol Production Head and Chemist, who unfortunately succumbed to COVID-19 this year. Her overall guidance and leadership paved the way to the initiative’s success, especially when ethyl alcohol availability is scant in the market.
The Ethyl Alcohol production of the School of Arts and Sciences was lauded by the LGUs and the Provincial Government of Aklan. Dr. Dela Cruz exemplifies strong commitment to public service. She risks traveling from her residence to the ASU Chemical Laboratory to spearhead the ethyl alcohol production, being a chemist to help the Provincial Government and the community needing ethyl alcohol supply. The message is precise – public service comes first despite health risks.
