Inspirational Success Story:
Dr. Cirilo E. Mirano, Jr. is dedicated to civic action and community service, such as conducting training, workshops, and seminars. He consistently goes beyond his professional responsibilities to create meaningful, lasting impact, organizing volunteer initiatives, leading awareness campaigns, and mobilizing others to participate in the projects that address local needs like environmental campaigns which include beach clean-up drive, promoting OFWs welfare and empowerment. He acted in various capacities as Board of Directors/Committee Chairman/Member of Kapisanan ng mga Manggagawang Pilipino sa Oman an accredited and recognized association by the Philippine embassy and the Ministry of Social Development of Oman. Among his contribution includes organizing, developing, and conducting various reintegration program, livelihood program and business opportunities training for OFWs in Oman in cooperation with Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO). Serving as one of the focal points in providing assistance and linkage for OFWs for various concerns to the Philippine Embassy. Participated in the Philippine Embassy’s program in providing and distributing support to OFWs affected by the pandemic. Contributed to the professional development of OFWs in various sectors and industries through skills creation to broaden employment opportunities for OFWs, particularly those in the service industry. Providing logistical support requirements for various off-site activities sponsored solely by KAMPION or in cooperation with POLO.
Dr. Cirilo, a lecturer at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences–Shinas, has been actively involved in community engagement initiatives. He has participated in clean-up drives and tree-planting activities in collaboration with private companies and the municipalities of Sohar and Shinas, where approximately 200 volunteers joined together to plant 150 trees. In addition, he has contributed to continuous education efforts by conducting numerous training programs, workshops, and seminars both online and face-to-face aimed at enhancing community skill sets. These initiatives have provided participants with opportunities to broaden their employment prospects, and improve their work performance. It is estimated that hundreds of individuals from various communities and establishments have benefited from these programs. In recognition of his dedicated service and positive impact, Dr. Cirilo was awarded by the University of Technology and Applied Sciences–Shinas for his outstanding contributions to the community. Moreover, his contributions to various events and activities, as one of the founding members of KAMPION, were also highlighted.
Dr. Cirilo leads by example, showing that meaningful change starts with individual action and consistent dedication. His ability to connect with people and backgrounds while translating ideas into practical projects motivates others to get involved and take ownership of community improvement. His enthusiasm and integrity inspire colleagues and community members alike to envision a better future and work together to achieve it.
