Dr. Emmanuel J. Dotong

Dr. Emmanuel is currently an Associate Professor of Business/ CBA Research Chairman at the Lyceum of the Philippines University – Manila. He is a young polymath who has already made a name for himself in academia and industry practice. Recognized as the core faculty for the Department of Corporate Management, his professional services in academia, which are based on teaching, research, and community service, significantly contribute to the College of Business Administration’s success as the Center of Excellence in the Business Administration program with a Level IV PACUCOA accreditation.

As a lifelong learner, he has an interdisciplinary background in business, marketing, hospitality, and international studies. He earned two Bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration, majoring in Marketing Management and Hospitality Management. He also earned a Post-Baccalaureate degree in Asian Studies with a major in Southeast Asia. He graduated Cum Laude with his Master’s degree in Business Administration and earned his Doctorate in Business Administration. He also received a level III International Certificate in Hospitality at the Australian Trade Training College, North Brisbane, Australia. He earned several industry certifications, including but not limited to: Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics, Certified Microsoft Educator and Certified Microsoft Specialist, Certified Market Research Associate, Certified Marketing Strategy Associate, and Certified Digital Marketing Associate.

As an academic and industry practitioner, he has over nine years of combined managerial practice in the industry, academia, and non-governmental organizations. As an educator, he served as department chairperson, faculty researcher, and student-exchange program lecturer, teaching international students from several universities in the USA, Germany, Taiwan, and Indonesia. Before his career in the academe, he started his industry career as a management trainee. He quickly advanced through the ranks to become an Assistant Manager, functioning as Sales and Marketing Manager and Service Quality Manager. On the sideline, he also serves as a management consultant for micro and small businesses, serving in the areas of brand management, marketing, restaurant operations, and business development for more than five years. He also served as an International Director for Education & Research for International Youth United, a Corporate Communications Officer at the Council of Marketing Educators, and conducted special lectures in several universities in the Philippines and abroad.

He is the youngest member of the faculty and is highly regarded among his peers in the faculty of Corporate Management. Since he began teaching in the CBA in 2016, he has racked up an impressive number of achievements, which have significantly impacted the overall quality of research and instruction. His enthusiasm for teaching and desire to impart the wisdom he gained over the years made him devote some years to engaging in education and mentoring young people and aspiring entrepreneurs. He is consistently recognized as one of the top-performing faculty members at the university, a testament to the overwhelmingly positive responses he received from his students, the administration, and his colleagues. Senior faculty members hold him in high regard for being at the top of his game despite the fact that he is responsible for a multitude of committee positions and appointments, including serving as College Chair for Research, Internal Quality Auditor, Senior Researcher, Department Chairperson, Course Instructional Development, Faculty Adviser for Scholastic Committee, and Course Content Quality Assurance, amongst others.

Dr. Dotong’s contributions across so many disciplines serve as a great inspiration for young people. He has extensive academic and professional credentials in the field for someone his age. He serves as a source of motivation not only to his students and mentees but also to the rest of the faculty, as he demonstrates that wearing multiple hats at the same time and completing a lot of responsibilities is not an impossible task. Teaching, researching, writing, management consulting, and running his own company are just some of his many hats. As a young man who has already achieved so much, he is one of the role models young people need to encourage and show them that age is not a hindrance to following their dreams.
