In addition to your teaching role, the critical responsibility of coordinating examinations involves planning, organizing, and overseeing the entire examination process, ensuring that all aspects—ranging from setting exam papers to grading—are executed with precision. Coordination is the collaboration with lecturers, administrative staff, and students to maintain academic integrity and efficiency in the examination process thereby maintaining fairness and transparency in the evaluation process.

Dr. Farhana Sultana Mohammed has demonstrated leadership through her work as Head of Unit, where she has contributed to departmental KPI achievement and led initiatives across academic integrity, examination and assessment, teaching and learning, faculty development, international research, student mobility, and international academic activities.
Her leadership extends beyond participation. She has initiated, coordinated, and steered activities while mobilizing colleagues toward implementation. One notable example is her initiation and leadership of the Accounting Bridge Program using Microsoft Excel, developed in response to the need for stronger practical and technology-enabled accounting competencies. Through this initiative, she translated an identified educational need into a structured program designed to strengthen students’ practical accounting and technology skills.
Dr. Farhana has also taken an active leadership role in advancing her department’s academic priorities through her involvement in faculty development, international research, student mobility, and other international academic activities. Her work across these areas demonstrates her capacity to manage multiple institutional priorities while contributing directly to departmental objectives.
Her record as Head of Unit is therefore characterized by initiatives that she has initiated, coordinated, and implemented, particularly in academic development, faculty engagement, internationalization, and student-focused programs. Some of her accomplishments include:
- Launch of a pioneering bridge course titled “Accounting Application Using Tally Prime and MS-Excel” for our accounting students in the Department of Economics and Business Administration-Shinas. This initiative is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations by equipping our students with essential software skills that are increasingly demanded in today’s dynamic financial landscape. By integrating practical tools like Tally Prime and Excel into their learning journey, we aim to empower students with the proficiency needed to unlock stronger career opportunities and contribute meaningfully to the professional world.
