A true leader in the field of education, Dr. Hazel Castanarez Montepio has dedicated her life to helping students learn and grow, and her impact on her students and colleagues has been profound. . She quickly established herself as a gifted, dedicated, and dynamic educator. In 2006, she returned to her hometown to teach at Kinamayan Elementary School. As exemplification of educators’ excellence, she was later promoted to Teacher III and then to Vice President for Academic Affairs at Santo Tomas College of Agriculture, Sciences and Technology (STCAST).

In addition to her teaching and administrative responsibilities, Dr. Hazel Castanarez Montepio has also been involved in a variety of extracurricular activities in the field of education. In the Department of Education, she served as the School Journalism Coordinator, Officer In-Charge, an exceptional academic coordinator, and School Paper Adviser at Kinamayan Integrated School for fifteen fruitful years. Pertinent to her exemplary professionalism for administrative roles, she also served as an accomplished Human Resource Coordinator from 2019 to 2021. She was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award by the Santo Tomas East District in 2016; and was nominated for the Outstanding Teacher Award by the Division of Davao del Norte in the same year.

Furthermore, in her active supervision as the Vice President for Academic Affairs, she has played a vital role for the monumental success of the establishment and development of well-structured curriculum and syllabus for five college programs such as Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTED); Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA); Bachelor in Public Administration (BPA); Bachelor of Science in Agri-Business (BSAB); and lastly, Bachelor of Science in Industrial Security Management (BSISM). In relation to her exemplary accomplishments, Dr. Hazel C. Montepio has also been facilitating an academic enhancement for the students in Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher Education which has led to an enormous significance to the continuous success of the program which reflected an institutional growth.
