Inspirational Success Story:

Dr. Rex A. Lim has been dubbed as a ‘silent worker’ in the school because his works, not his words, echo his achievements. As a professional, he already achieves a lot. He has been an icon of research not only in Davao City but in the rest of the country, even in some parts of the world. He is visible at many international research conferences acting as either a plenary speaker or a judge. In the Department of Education, he initiated and organized various online fora in the Division of Davao City during the pandemic to extend his technical expertise to teachers teaching practical research subjects. Some of which were the Webinar Series on Writing Action and Basic Research, and Senior High School Qualitative Research Talk Series. He even proposed projects and programs in the school’s division without a budget from the department. He used his own money to mobilize the projects, including primarily his own fare expenses, papers for certificates, and the like. His selfless dedication to service deserves commendation and to be known in the community. His research publication showing some of his teaching innovations now reach an h-index of 2.

One of his accomplishments was when he was tapped to head the retooling program for Practical Research Teachers in private senior high schools in Davao City Division among the three congressional districts for a series of sessions for each district. The first congressional district was held in St. Paul College of Davao from February 10, 11, and 17, 2023. The second congressional district was conducted at Jose Maria College, Inc. on February 24, 25, and March 10, 2023. The sessions for the third congressional district were held at Holy Child College of Davao at Mintal Campus on March 11, 17, and 24, 2023. His initiative was exemplary not only because he was the resource speaker on a number of heavy topics in qualitative research, but because the project did not have an allotted budget from the school’s division. Even the event venue was sponsored by the external linkages of the division. All other expenses like the printing of the certificates, transportation fare, and other relevant materials were shouldered by him. His act of service overflowing through his actions. While others cannot work without the comfort of monetary support, which is supposed must be the case, Mr. Lim is joyous to still perform the job regardless of the circumstance.

His works have already inspired many teachers in the academe. Despite being a teacher himself, he dedicated his service to helping others impact the community through research. He led the research unit of Davao City National High School and was appointed cluster research focal person to additional four schools: Vicenta Nograles National High School, Sta. Ana National High School, Leon Garcia National High School, and Carlos P. Garcia Senior High School. Recently, he launched the Sapientia: Cluster 1 Research Colloquium for teachers which was successfully conducted last June 09, 2023.
