Inspirational Success Story:
Joviene Ziela L. Lunar’s journey as an academic leader began during her elementary years at De La Salle Lipa, where she consistently ranked among the top students in her class, finishing in the Top 5 of her batch. Her exceptional talent was showcased in prestigious competitions, including her qualification as a national contender in the Asian MathScience League, Inc. (AMSLI) 2018, and earning a Bronze Medal in the Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO) in 2017. Beyond academics, Joviene also excelled in sports, joining the varsity volleyball team in Grade 4, demonstrating her commitment to teamwork and leadership from an early age.
Her academic leadership truly shone during her Junior High School years at San Pablo Colleges, where she maintained the remarkable distinction of being the Top 1 student in her batch. Graduating as the class valedictorian, she received multiple awards, including Best in Mathematics, Best in Science, and Athlete of the Year. Joviene’s prowess in various academic contests was evident as she triumphed in quiz bees and speech competitions at the school, district, division, and regional levels. Notably, she led a research project titled “Junior High School Students’ Satisfaction and Preference on Elective Subjects: Inputs to Curriculum Review.” This paper not only garnered the Best Paper award but was also presented at multiple research fora, earning accolades such as the Best Abstract Award. Furthermore, it advanced to the second level of evaluation for the International Research Contest of IIARI, showcasing her research acumen and dedication to improving educational practices. In sports, as a key member of the Ravens Volleyball Girls Varsity Team, Joviene contributed significantly to the team’s success, helping them secure victories in various tournaments over four consecutive years. Her leadership extended beyond the classroom and court; she served as an officer in the Red Cross Youth and was an active member of the Ravens Call, a volunteer singing group at San Pablo Colleges.
Currently in her Senior High School year, she is enjoying a Full Scholarship awarded by SPC SHS in recognition of her outstanding achievement as the Top 1 student of the 2024 graduating Junior High School class. Joviene also continues to exemplify academic leadership as the class president. Concerned for her peers’ health and well-being, she initiated an action research project titled “Understanding the Perceived Reasons for Frequent Incidences of Fainting and Body Malaise Among Grade 11 STEM Wisdom Students.” This research reflects her commitment to addressing critical issues within her school community concerning student welfare and learning outcomes. For the First Term of AY 2024-2025, Joviene earned the With High Honors Award, achieving a GWA of 97.444 and ranking First among Grade 11 students at San Pablo Colleges. Additionally, she received a Merit Award in the Philippine National Vedic Mathematics Olympiad 2024 Open Category. Joviene remains actively engaged in her passion for volleyball as a member of the SPC Ravens Varsity Team. Joviene Ziela L.
