Nominations & Mechanics
- Nomination
The immediate supervisor, head, colleague/former colleague, teacher/former teacher, student/former student or member of the community can nominate a candidate for the award. Self-nomination is NOT allowed. Anyone can be nominated for the award category. However, only shortlisted candidates are included in the final selection process.
- Nomination Process
The nomination is online (here). The person writing the nomination must complete all the required information and necessary supporting documents (if any). The first round of the selection process is conducted by the special ILA Selection Committee based on the narration of the qualifications, accomplishments and supporting details provided. The selection committee prefers evidence in the form of website articles, social media posts, institutional database or website, links to the publications and soft copies of any prepared materials. The committee automatically rejects incomplete nominations, multiple nominations in various categories, self-nominations and inability of the nominator to provide additional supporting details.
The nominator ensures the quality of evidence provided suit the category of the award. For instance, nominees in research must provide details of the research articles published and not accomplishments in teaching. The committee screens the finalists through the verifiable evidence provided. The person writing the nomination could be communicated to provide additional evidence, if necessary.
Only the shortlisted nominees are eligible for the final round of selection. There are no limits as to the number of shortlisted nominees who will be given citations as luminary awardee. Maximum five (5) nominees will be chosen for the final round.
The nominees and awardees are not eligible for further nominations in any category within a year.
- Callback/ Virtual Interview
A callback or virtual interview is called for the finalists. The special ILA Selection Committee decides on the date, time and manner of the virtual interview.

Evaluation process
HOW WINNER IS DETERMINED?
Quality over quantity. The Institute believes that success is measured not by the number of accomplishment but the impact and the influence it has to the community. We are looking for at least one achievement that separates a nominee from the other.
HOW NARRATIVE IMPACTS NOMINATION?
Simplicity over exaggeration. The award follows an evidence-based process with the written narratives from the nomination. The nominator must explicitly narrate accomplishments and/or achievements relative to the award in simple, direct and truthful manner. The narrative must not sugarcoat to appeal to emotion.
WHAT IS RELIABLE EVIDENCE?
Substance over form. We only consider relevance of evidence to the award category. We look for relevant evidence that we can verify online than scanned copies of personal documents.
