This study aimed to determine the lived experiences of teachers and Grade 11 students in the implementation of Brigada Pagbasa as a reading innovation to improve reading literacy. This study made use of phenomenological study where open-ended questionnaire was made to gather data that will be carefully recorded, transcribed, interpret, and individually categorized according to themes by conducting face to face individual interview. Results revealed that, teachers encounter students with different reading level and realize Brigada Pagbasa as a remarkable experience. Students during the implementation of Brigada Pagbasa encounter to learn new things, enhanced their reading skills and positive life changing experience. It has found out that both teachers and students encounter challenges in the implementation of Brigada Pagbasa. It was very common to teachers struggling in absenteeism, addressing reading difficulty and time management. While students are suffering in having a low self-esteem and anxiety, comprehension difficulty and managing time. The results showed that both teacher and students utilized the same coping mechanism to address difficulties and challenges experience. Those are seeking for help, having a positive mind set and time management.
