This study assessed the level of financial knowledge and the influencing factors among graduating university students in the Philippines. An embedded mixed-method approach was employed, integrating quantitative data from a structured questionnaire and qualitative insights from an open-ended question. A total of 191 students from different university schools participated in the research. The research identified significant deficiencies in students' financial knowledge, particularly among those from non-business disciplines and lower socioeconomic backgrounds. These gaps, influenced by factors such as limited access to financial education resources, insufficient practical experience, and varying levels of self-efficacy, directly correlate with poorer financial behaviors, including inadequate budgeting and increased financial stress. Specifically, students lacking foundational financial knowledge struggled with basic money management, highlighting a critical need for targeted interventions. To address these deficiencies, this study recommends the implementation of tailored financial education programs integrated into the university curriculum. These programs should prioritize practical application, accessible resources, and strategies to enhance self-efficacy, particularly for students from vulnerable groups. The findings suggest that improving financial knowledge among students could have a profound impact on their financial stability and long-term success. This research contributes valuable insights into the financial knowledge among college students but also serves as a foundation for policy development and curriculum enhancement aimed at fostering responsible financial behavior and decision-making among future professionals.
