Professional Background

Dr. Hendrik Puleng Motlalekgosi is a respected South African scholar, researcher, and academic leader specializing in correctional services management, criminology, penology, policing, and public management. He currently serves as Senior Lecturer and Programme Coordinator for Diploma, Advanced Diploma, and Postgraduate Diploma programmes in Correctional and Rehabilitation Studies at Tshwane University of Technology. With more than two decades of experience in higher education, he has made significant contributions to teaching, curriculum development, research, and postgraduate supervision in the fields of corrections and criminal justice.

Dr. Motlalekgosi holds a Doctor of Literature and Philosophy (DLitt et Phil) in Penology from University of South Africa, where his research focused on evidence-based offender treatment in South Africa. His scholarly work encompasses correctional rehabilitation, parole systems, human trafficking, policing, offender rights, correctional administration, and criminal justice policy. He has published extensively in accredited journals, supervised numerous master’s and doctoral students to completion, and actively contributes to academic governance, research ethics, and professional bodies such as the Criminological and Victimological Society of Southern Africa. His expertise and leadership continue to influence correctional and policing research, policy development, and professional training in South Africa and beyond.
