Dr. Florian Andrei Vlad holds an MA in American Studies from the University of Heidelberg, Germany, and a PhD in Literary Studies from Ovidius University of Constanta, Romania. He is currently an Associate Professor at Ovidius University, where he teaches undergraduate courses in American and British literature, as well as Film Studies, and MA-level classes in Post-9/11 American Literature, Identity Theories in Contemporary Cultural Discourse, and British and American Consumerist Culture. He was treasurer of the Romanian Association for American Studies (part of the European Association for American Studies) from 2021 until 2025, and he has been a member of the organizing committee of several international conferences, including the 2016 European Association for American Studies Biennal. Recent books include Challenging Identities: From Theory to Literary Discourse (Bucharest: Editura Universitara, 2022) and Literary Portrayals of 9/11 (Updike, Foer, DeLillo): Three Texts Interpreting the Trauma of Terrorism (Lewiston, New York: Edwin Mellen Press, 2022
