Professional Background
Dr. Mthandeni Mbatha is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of History at the University of Zululand. He holds a BA, BA Honours, Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education, MA, and PhD in History. He teaches African and South African History at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His research interests focus on contemporary African history, with particular emphasis on political and economic development, as well as the history of the 19th century Zulu Monarchy. He has successfully supervised numerous postgraduate students to completion and has served as a reviewer for international journals. He has published several journal articles within his areas of specialisation and has presented papers at a number of local and international conferences.
