IIARI leads visit to UiTM, Malaysia

SUSTAINABLE PARTNERSHIP | The Institute of Industry and Academic Research Incorporated led the staging of the first international benchmarking at Malaysia’s largest public university, Universiti Teknologi Mara. The visit to UiTM, Pahang Brach dubbed as “HONORABLE VISIT MOBILITY PROGRAM Institute of Industry and Academic Research Incorporated to Universiti Teknologi MARA Pahang Branch, Malaysia” was held on June 21 – 24, 2023.
The Philippine delegations include:
Institute of Industry and Academic Research Incorporated headed by its President, Dr. Rodrigo M. Velasco
Aklan State University led by the OIC Director, International Affairs, Dr. Eleanor F. Rosales
Santo Tomas College of Agriculture, Sciences, and Technology headed by the President, Dr. Diobein C. Flores
Northwestern Visayan College represented by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Rebecca Tandug Barrios
Balian Community College led by the President, Dr. Dennis Gealone
Activities for Day 1:
 Courtesy Meeting and Breakfast with UiTM Pahang Branch Rector, Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Ilham Bin Adenan and Deputy Rector, Prof. Madya Dr. Hajah Nazirah Binti Ramli
 Meeting and sharing session with Research and Management Unit (RMU) and Liaison Officer of UiTM Global
 Campus Tour: science laboratory, academy of language studies and Al-Bukhari Library
 Visit to FGV Agri-Services, Pahang
Major accomplishments for the day:
 Finalization of the Memorandum of Agreement under the existing Memorandum of Understanding between UiTM Pahang Branch and IIARI. The IIARI takes the lead in all further MoAs based on the needs of its partner HEIs
 Agreement by principles on: student mobility program; staff mobility program thru thesis/dissertation advising and paneling, guest lectures and invitations to various academic and research activities; match research grants; and interdisciplinary collaborative research
 Sharing of best practices on laboratory facilities and agriculture
 Dialogue with the core team for further collaborative activities
The very fruitful day 1 sealed all the agreements necessary for the development of the students and institutional programs. Truly, INTERNATIONALIZATION begins to work!
Activities for Day 2
• Meeting and dialogue with Industry, Community and Alumni Network (ICAN), Prof. Dr. Wan Mohd Nazri Wan Abdul Rahman
• Sharing of best practices and speeches from Philippine delegation
• Meeting and discussion with the State Executive Committee and Head of Study Centre, UiTM Pahang Branch
• Tour around campus of UiTM Pahang Branch: 1) Plantation & Agrotechnology (Stingless Bee Honey & Fertigation); and 2) Reserved Forest of UiTM Pahang
Major accomplishments for the day:
• Conceptualization of possible agriculture and agri-business students’ international internship program
• Dialogue with program and centre heads for collaboration and collaborative programs
• Sharing of best practices in agriculture and forestry
Highlight of the day is the interactive sessions with the agriculture and forestry experts led by Dr. Eva R. Orlina.
The tiring yet exciting day 2 provided clear overview on how the student mobility program will be handled. Truly, students will learn GLOBAL!
