The recently concluded IIARI Luminary Award 2021 recognized and celebrated the success stories of various personalities around the world in a virtual awarding ceremony held on December 4, 2021 via Zoom. The awarding ceremonies paid tribute to the exemplary contributions of various individuals in the fields of civic works, teaching, research and leadership. The 2021 Grand winners are Dr. Arlene dela Cruz in Civic Works, Mr. Jerico M. Cuerdo in Teaching, Prof. Jayantha N. Dewasiri in Research and Dr. Amado L. Magsino in Leadership.
Dr. Arlene B. Dela Cruz is a pandemic champion as she led the TEAM ABTIK- ethyl alcohol production of the School of Arts & Sciences at Aklan State University during the height of pandemic in 2020. She risks traveling from her residence to the ASU Chemical Laboratory to spearhead the ethyl alcohol production to help the Provincial Government and the community needing ethyl alcohol supply.
Mr. Jerico M. Cuerdo is an unsung hero in the field of teaching for his selfless contribution to the education of the students in the far-flung school of Malining. Although he has a choice to accept an assignment in a nearby area, he remained committed to Malining Elementary School. He walks for two days and hikes mountains to reach the farthest school in the town of General Nakar, Quezon Province.
Prof. Jayantha N. Dewasiri is a notable researcher in the South Asian region for his publications in high-ranked journals and a pioneer in applying triangulation research approach in the management discipline. He has received several awards and recognition for his research works. With his valuable contribution to the research field, he was bestowed as the Emerald Publishing’s Brand Ambassador in the South Asian region.
Dr. Amado L. Magsino is a champion both in academic leadership and internationalization. He is a well-known founder of several notable national and international organizations and associations of HEIs in Southeast Asia. Passage to ASEAN (P2A) Philippines was organized through his initiative with no less than 15 schools as founding members. He is one of the five- member P2A Executive Committee running the affairs of the Association, represented by Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, and Philippines.
