Professional Background
Dr. Noor Mazni Binti Abdul Karim holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in English Language Studies, a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in TESL. Her academic credentials are further strengthened by a Professional Certificate (PGCert) in Trainer Development ELT from the University of St Mark and St John, United Kingdom, completed in 2012 to bridge the gap between advanced research and professional teacher training.
Her career in education began in 1997 as an English Language Teacher at SMK Jelai (F) and SMK Seksyen 5, Wangsa Maju, where she also served as the Head of the English Language Panel. She later transitioned into higher education as a Lecturer at IPG Kampus Ilmu Khas (Institute of Teacher Education, Ilmu Khas Campus) and IPG Kampus Bahasa Antarabangsa (Institute of Teacher Education, International Languages Campus). Throughout her academic career, she has held several leadership roles, including Head of the Continuous Improvement Unit and Head of the English Language Department. Since 2025, she has been serving as the Deputy Director of IPG Kampus Bahasa Antarabangsa.
Dr. Noor Mazni has extensive experience in quality assurance and curriculum design. She has served as the IPGKBA MQA Coordinator and Auditor, as well as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the English Language Department. Her contributions to curriculum development include involvement in the Theory and Practice in ELT modules and the Post-Secondary English Language Curriculum Framework (PSELCF). In addition, she has played key roles in professional panels, including Lingua Odyssey (APTIS) for lecturers and the Task Force for Teacher Recruitment. Between 2021 and 2022, she managed several TESL programmes as a Program Owner and coordinated curriculum content for over 50 courses across the Program Ijazah Sarjana Muda Perguruan (PISMP) and the Program Diploma Pendidikan (PDPM).
In terms of other professional engagements, she serves as a Panel Judge for the Malaysian National Library Book Award (2025–2026) and has contributed to the University of Malaya (UM) as a PhD Research Instrument Reviewer, specializing in Teacher Assessment Literacy. Her roles in evaluation and mentorship include serving as a Journal Article Reviewer for MELTA, an IPGM Examination Question Evaluator, and a Poster Evaluation Panelist for MIRCELE 2020. She has also contributed as a Module Developer and Facilitator for the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) and as a Mentor for the Lingua Odyssey (BUDDY) programme, where she prepared TESL lecturers for the APTIS test.
